About me and my practice

I am a BACP registered member with a background in psychology and extensive experience supporting children and young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. I have an MSc in Counselling Children and Young People, alongside ongoing professional development in online and telephone counselling.

I work integratively, which means I tailor therapy to each person rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw on person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic and systemic ideas, as well as creative and trauma-informed approaches where helpful. This allows us to work in a way that feels right for you and responsive to your needs, goals and pace.

My online practice focuses on supporting young adults aged 18 to 25 who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, low self-esteem, or feeling overwhelmed by life transitions. This stage of life can bring a lot of pressure and uncertainty, and I aim to offer a calm, compassionate space where you can talk openly and feel heard.

I work in a non-judgemental, empathetic way and place strong importance on building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship. Sessions are collaborative, and we can work together to explore patterns, emotions and experiences, as well as develop coping strategies and self-understanding. I am also mindful of neurodiversity and individual differences, and I aim to work in a way that is inclusive and respectful of each clients unique experience.

Experience

I have over 150 hours of client experience working integratively within a large secondary school, offering one-to-one counselling to young people. My role involves building therapeutic relationships, collaboratively setting goals, reviewing progress, and working in a confidential, ethical and trauma-informed way. I regularly attend clinical supervision and work closely with safeguarding teams to ensure client safety and wellbeing.

Alongside my counselling role, I work within a school SEN and welfare team, supporting young people with emotional wellbeing needs, safeguarding processes and pastoral care. This has strengthened my understanding of the wider systems around young people and the importance of collaborative working.

I am also a former crisis volunteer with Shout UK, where I provided emotional support to people experiencing distress, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, abuse and bereavement. This role developed my ability to remain calm under pressure, offer empathetic listening, and support people in moments of acute emotional need.

My background also includes working as a teaching assistant supporting children with additional needs, including autism, and providing emotional and behavioural support. These experiences have shaped my compassionate, trauma-informed and developmentally aware approach to counselling young people and young adults.
